can I start a pc without a hard drive

Hello im building a gaming pc and im on a buget and I want to know if I can start my pc without a hard drive just to see if it will turn on im about to buy a gpu and a psu and ram all together so can I know ahead of time.im just seeing if the pc will turn on (MOMENT OF Truth) if so ill buy a hard drive later with windows 8

Yes you can :p  , btw try with some live-cd and/or ultimate boot cd or hirens boot to make some test .

    you will be able to access the bios as well as boot to any os installed on external devices (including the tools in the installation tools).

      As long as you have your CPU heatsink installed!

      Might seem obvious to most but ive had people try to boot without their heatsink on their cpu :facepalm:

        You can also load Ubuntu off a flash drive. Format the flash drive, put Ubuntu on it, and boot the OS through the boot menu.
