Hello, there are a few threads online similar to this issue but I wanted to explain exactly how it happened. Google Chrome needed a 'critical security update' for Java, but after I updated there were loads of junk programs installed (i.e. advertising like Freeven).
I went into Programs and Features to uninstall each of the new junk programs. After uninstalling 2 or 3 of them, when clicking on the next program I got a message saying it was already uninstalled (it was not) - it said this for every single program. When I closed and opened the list again it didn't popluate. All the programs are still installed but the list only has 2 programs listed- to check programs still worked I opened Skype, and next time I opened the list Skype was there too.
Please help!

Just spent hours waiting for the scan to finish and it apparently found viruses but then I have to register and pay to use it to remove them! How can I use the list of viruses detected and remove them manually from the computer??

It seems that the adware in my computer took over my browser and downloaded a bogus anti-malware. However, I have now downloaded the Malware Bytes and used it to get rid of a load of junk (thank you) - but the programs list not populating problem still exists. I have also found that I cannot open any Microsoft Office files, I just get the message 'Click-2-Run Application Failure'

Please help! I need to use Microsoft Word!! Thanks x
